Advanced Player Settings Tip #6: HD - high definition

Here is a demo of the vzaar player playing HD video.

…and here are a few tips that you may find helpful.

  • You can upload as many HD videos as you like to vzaar.
  • Each video uploaded can be up to 2GB. See Upload limits.
  • When you upload a HD video to vzaar we encode this to the MP4 format using the H.264 codec and the parameters we set are as follows:
    Frame rate = 30 FPS
    Bit Rate = 2048 kbps
    HD Resolution = 1280x720
  • We also allow users to set their own parameters using a feature called DNE (do not encode)
  • If your source HD video is larger than 1280 X 720 we will encode the video and display at 1280 x720.
  • The HD Player size is 768x576 and displayed at 1280x720 in full screen mode. To view in full screen select the Full Screen button on the top right of the player. (if you hover your mouse of this part of the screen the button will appear)
  • SD (standard definition) video refers to any video that is not HD.

If you are uploading a combination of HD & SD videos then make sure you video resolution in the video settings page is set to MP4. Then when you are uploading your video select the appropriate video player in the upload page. So for HD videos select HD and for SD videos select from the other player size options.

If your video is not HD but you want the video to be played in the HD player,(dimensions 768 x 576) then select the HD player and the video will be displayed in that player all be it in SD.
