Mauricio is a Web designer / front end developer hybrid. He was previously Head of Creative for Rank/Blue Square where he worked on interface design and development for web, mobile, iTV and touchscreen products for six years. Mauricio then moved to Endemol UK where he worked as Art Director on turnkey projects such as the Williams F1 website.
After a spell at Dare Digital (twice Agency of the year) working as streaming video consultant for Sony, Mauricio went on to work as a software engineer at Yell.com and as Senior Web Designer for the First Choice holidays websites.
His passion for design, video and UI ultimately landed him the perfect job: driving vzaar's design, UI, brand, front end development and leading all things vzaary and creative.
When he is not thinking about design, video and code, he is watching documentaries about space (as in Universe - and online of course), eating Panettone or teaching his daughters Photoshop, Guitar or cooking.
The web is portable, focused on the individual - user engagement is the word. The web is semantic. Widgets, drag and drop mashups are common. User behaviour is everything. Web services are mature, cloud computing is everywhere. As such online video is now mainstream. We consume data and media when and where we want. On demand is king.
Brazilian or Italian, then Indian. In that order.
From my point of view: Working on a product I really love and use myself. Design the site from the ground up to be a pleasure to use and very efficient.
My family and all the designers and developers out there who dare to blur the boundaries and push the web forward.
